Troop 227 (Astoria Ward) Boy Scout Court of Honor

The Astoria Queens ward had it's first ever Boy Scout Court of Honor on Sun, Feb 22. I am the Scoutmaster and Kevin Hirst is the Assistant Scoutmaster - and we have 3 awesome boys. Philip just turned 18 in January, so it will be sad to see him go. Hopefully he can stay with us as an assistant. There is Gabriel, a 15-year old, really bright young man who just moved to New York from Rio, Brazil. Last but not least, there is David, our sober 12-year old. They are such great boys and are doing so well. We are so proud of them and their accomplishments.

At this Court of Honor, they all earned the Tenderfoot Rank, and 2 Merit Badges (Fingerprinting and Public Speaking). We have set goals for 2009 to attend Scout Camp in August, earn 12 Merit Badges, and complete the Second and First Class Ranks. Enjoy the pics below.

looks like you got a lot of good pictures. Glad other people remembered their cameras. Next time, what about having it in the Primary room? Smaller, not so echo-ie and better lighting! Way to go Astoria Ward Troop 227!

I'm with Jon. Where are the shorts?!?! Seriously though, those boys are lucky to have you. Isn't it kind of weird that we have grown up callings? Weird.

I know I know - I should have rocked the short shorts, but since it was a Sunday ... maybe next time! Then I am sure that the hits on my blog would go from 3 to 300!! ;)
